Destination Information about Lorraine
Lorraine is proud of its strategic position at the border of Belgium,
Luxembourg and Germany.
Illuminated city, heritage city, garden city, enchanting Metz offers
those on foot the promise of surprising walks through the town and along
the ramparts. Metz boasts plenty of riches: one of the tallest Gothic
cathedrals in the world, a heritage that combines history and contemporary
art (Metz-Pompidou Centre from 2008)...
* Nancy, Dating back to the Middle Ages, blessed with majestic town
houses, Nancy was provided with one of the most remarkable squares in
Europe by King Stanislas in the 18th century, listed as a World Heritage
Site by Unesco: Place Stanislas, which was refurbished, embellished
and pedestrianised in 2005 for its 250th anniversary. At the turn of
the century, Nancy was the birthplace of the Ecole de Nancy, a branch
of European Art Nouveau which produced exceptional artists such as Gallé,
Daum and Majorelle.
